complications at the age of 69. He's probably best known for 'Come On (Let the
Good Times Roll)', which was covered by Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

UPDATE!!!!!! As of March 15, 2003, Dave will be leaving us to return to
his native Florida ( 'tho he'll be around to do some upcoming shows - join the
email update list for details as they come). It's become impossible for him and
Sher to afford to stay here thanks to Governor John Rowland's ongoing efforts to
tax us all to death. If ya live in CT, do us all a favor and do your part to
vote that clown outta here in the next election(and give some other crook a
chance!!)!
We were originally going to call it quits after a nearly 4 year run as
CT's best classic rock band. However, I'm pleased to announce that with Dave's
recomendation our new drummer has been found. We want to welcome Rick LaPenta to
the Smokin' Herb family as our new drummer/vocalist/percussionist. Tho' we will
sorely miss Dave, - who as all whom have seen him know, is one of the most
outstanding drummers in the world - we are looking forward to working with Rick
, who is not only one helluva nice guy but an outstanding percussionist with
damn near perfect groove and meter. Welcome aboard, Rick!
Also, don't be surprised to see Smokin Herb as a power trio on
occaision....we tried it the other nite with Peet on bass, it really rocked! We
had 'em dancin on the tables, and had to autograph body parts to get some of the
more enthusiastic young ladies to go home after the show. Crazy!! Everybody had
a great time!!!!!! (wish you were there....)
Dave's last gig was absolutely killer, the 2+ hour first set was filmed
by Mike Bosco from Nutmeg Cable's The Evening Show (almost as cool as being on
A&E a while back) and should be on tv somewhere now. I'm workin' on getting
it on Comcast also, and am investigating appearing on Comcast's Bands On The Road show...check it out!!
